The President is running down the street one day, and he sees a little girl who is giving away puppies that her dog just had.
He goes up to the girl and says, "Little girl, I think that it’s wonderful that you’re doing such a good thing."
The little girl says, "Thank you, Mr. Clinton. Would you like a puppy? They're Democrats."
Bill declines and jogs onward. The next day Billy jogs past the same girl and decides to talk to her again. 'You know what, little girl? I think I'll take one of those puppies after all, seeing as how they're Democrats."
The girl says, "I'm sorry Mr. Clinton, but they’re not Democrats any more. They're Republican now."
Bill says, "They are? How do you know? As a matter of fact, how did you know that they were Democrats at first to begin with?"
She says, "Well, just after they were born they were Democrats, but now their eyes are open."

DELTA, NORTHWEST TALLY $10.5B IN LOSSES

Delta and Northwest, seeking to combine and create the world's largest airline, posted losses Wednesday totaling $10.5 billion for the first three months of the year because of exorbitant fuel prices and write-downs of their companies' value. "All airlines are in the same boat," said Calyon Securities analyst Ray Neidl. "The industry cannot make money in the current ticket-fare level. Seats have to come out of the market. To cover higher fuel costs, airfares have to go up," he said. Delta Air Lines, the nation's third-largest carrier, said its loss widened in the first quarter to a whopping $6.39 billion. A few hours later, Northwest Airlines reported a $4.1 billion loss for the period. Delta reported a 12% increase in sales; Northwest sales were up 9% in the quarter. * Bad news from the U.S. airline industry will almost certainly mean higher ticket prices for passengers soon. "You'll have higher fares," said Vaughn Cordle, a Washington-based analyst for AirlineForecast. "It's an ugly picture out there." Some analysts say AirTran Airways and other low-cost carriers, stung by the impact of high fuel costs, will have a more difficult time than major carriers weathering the pressures. They are likely to raise ticket prices, and some may even fold, the analysts say. AirTran a day earlier reported a $35 million quarterly loss. (www.AtlantaJournal-Constitution.com/Business

Traveling with Babies

  • Always be sure to bring enough diapers and food for the flight, scheduled layovers, and unexpected flight delays.
  • Your baby will appreciate a blanket and anything else you normally use to keep them warm and comfortable.   Familiar things make flying less traumatic.
  • If breastfeeding, you might want to bring a blanket large enough to cover the baby during feedings.
  • When flying with a toddler, buy a few new toys to peak their interest. Let them see the toys for the first time during the flight. Wrapping them can be fun, but the Transportations Safety Administration advises against traveling through the airport with wrapped presents.
  • Hide a couple of favorite toys a few weeks before your trip then pull them out on the airplane or at your destination for an added surprise.
